1. General Characteristics

Botanical Name: Elettaria cardamomum (L.) Maton
Origin: Western Ghats, India (Idukki / Wayanad regions)
Crop Year: Current Year Harvest
Appearance: Distinct three-cornered, plump capsules with a natural green to deep green color (no artificial color or coating).

Defect Tolerances (Grade-Dependent Limits)

We maintain strict quality control to minimize structural and aesthetic defects in every batch:

Immature & Shrivelled Pods (Sick): Max 2.0% to 5.0%
Flat, yellowish, or underdeveloped capsules that lack full seed density.

Split & Open Pods: Max 5.0% to 10.0%
Capsules split at the apex or sides where seeds are partially exposed.

Empty / Fruitless Pods: Max 1.0% to 2.0%
Pods that contain no seeds inside.

Whitish / Bleached / Thrips-Damaged Pods: Max 2.0% to 5.0%
Pods displaying surface discoloration or localized structural fading.
